Just Add Cheer: 4 Christmas Movie Marathon Must-Haves
“The weather outside is frightful… but that Netflix glow is so delightful. When you’ve got no place to go, let it stream, let it stream, let it stream.”
While those may not be quite the lyrics you remember, there’s no denying that the holiday movie season is in full swing. With it come peppermint hot chocolates, decorated cookies, and all of your favorite Christmas movies.
With so many Christmas and holiday movies on your movie list, though, watching just one at a time might not be enough to squeeze them in all by December 25th.
The Santa-approved solution? A Christmas movie marathon!
Watching a movie with a loved one, especially someone who's not able to get out much, is a great wish for our Christmas coin. Spin it to land on "Make a Wish" or "Be the Wish." Make a wish for something special, or do something special for someone else -- be their wish! Maybe your brother likes action movies and you don't. Maybe your sister likes rom-coms and you don't. Find one you might like and watch it with them. It takes more than candy canes to build bridges! Read more in our Christmas story book, The Carol of the Coin, or get both coin and story book, too.
How you line up your marathon is up to you.
Maybe you’ll watch all the Grinch movies back-to-back-to-back.
Maybe you’ll focus on non-Christmas-y Christmas movies like Gremlin and Die Hard.
Maybe you’ll go for a holiday Ha Ha Ha to go along with the Ho Ho Ho while checking out Jingle All The Way and The Santa Clause(s).
For every taste, there's a tinsel-themed movie marathon to satisfy. What’s just as important as what you watch is how you watch it.
That’s why today we’re going to share some ideas on how to make this year’s Christmas movie marathon a seasonal smash.
Four Ways To Make Your Next Christmas Movie Marathon Great
-
It’s Beginning To Smell A Lot Like Christmas - There aren’t many holidays that have as many great smells as Christmas, so go all in to set the stage. From the scent of fresh-baked cookies and warm apple ciders to scented candles on the shelves, adding your favorite holiday scents will get you in the mood for your marathon.
-
Set Coziness Level To Snuggle - Part of the art of setting up a Christmas movie marathon is the art of settling in. While you might not be able to dial up falling snowfall on cue, you can still get cozy with blankets, pajamas, and a convenient snack setup that keeps you from getting up and down to go to the kitchen.
-
Satisfy the Christmas Snack Cravings - Make sure you balance out the holiday sweets with a little something savory, too. Take Two Tapas Christmas Snack Platter finds that balance well, balancing pretzels, popcorn, fresh fruit, and Goldfish crackers with a smattering of sweets like peppermint candies, reindeer chow, and cookies.
- A Christmas Cocktail (or Mocktail) - We’ve got to hand it to this list of 12 Christmas cocktails for hitting it out of the park with themed drinks like the Home Alone boozy milkshake (inspired by Kevin’s bowl of ice cream), the Grinch sour martini (an homage to the sourest holiday villain of them all), and the Elf shooters (based on Buddy’s four favorite food groups). Mix up a drink from your favorite film, or pair one with the film you’re watching to really get your season’s spirits bright!
